Far Cry 2

A standout open-world shooter set in a war-torn African state that still holds up roughly fifteen years on, especially with a fan realism mod that smooths out its old technical issues. The exploration, vehicle handling, and meaty gunplay are excellent, and the malaria mechanic adds tension. Weak voice acting and occasionally dodgy enemy AI are the main blemishes.

Beautiful sandbox world undermined by repetitive, aimless mission design and broken AI that makes open-world gameplay feel empty.
