Our analysis

A mixed bag that nonetheless does more for the core experience than the Shattered Space expansion, with the Terran Armada DLC and Free Lanes update pushing players to engage with nearly every system. The standout is the frequent, enjoyable starship combat alongside a worthwhile six-hour campaign and atmospheric music. It is undercut by frame rate dips, broken enemy AI, quest bugs, a formulaic and underdeveloped story, repetitive radiant Terran incursions, and a thin loot pool lacking unique rewards.
