Worth getting for Yakuza fans who enjoy crew systems and island exploration.
Our analysis
Against expectations, this chaotic Majima-led spin-off feels rich and refreshing while still landing the grandiose dramatic moments the series is known for, sustaining its pace across an 18-hour campaign with deftly woven side stories. The arcade-style naval battles are a genuine highlight, though on-foot combat feels lighter and messier, with narrower, less contextual heat actions and outcomes that lean on your crew as much as your skill. It still feels unmistakably like a Yakuza game despite leaving Japan.
Our analysis
Outstanding yakuza spin-off with Majima, fresh pirate setting, naval battles, and hilarious writing.
Our analysis
Solid spin-off putting fan-favorite Goro Majima front and center with a suitably eccentric pirate adventure. Frenetic Mad Dog and Sea Dog combat styles are exhilarating. Story doesn’t pick up until an excellent final chapter and doesnt delve into Majimas complex personality. Technical issues including frequent crashes are a surprising new addition. Essential for series fans despite faltering more than usual.

Our analysis
A fantastic and entertaining game that delivers solid action combat, engaging naval mechanics, and a compelling story. While it could have taken more risks and the game world feels smaller than the main series entries, it's a thoroughly fun experience that succeeds at what it sets out to do.

Our analysis
Despite appearing strange on the surface, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a full game with life and personality that successfully integrates naval combat, crew management, and character-driven storytelling in a way that makes it unlikely to bore players.
